What we like

The menu. Gousto's weekly menu is the biggest of the mainstream boxes — there's genuinely a recipe for every taste, which matters once the novelty wears off and you're choosing meals week after week.
The app. The easiest to use of any service we've tried: picking recipes, skipping weeks and managing deliveries all take seconds. It also shows the use-by date for each recipe, so you know what to cook first — a small feature that saves real food waste.
Value. Portions are generous and per-portion pricing is competitive, especially on the bigger boxes.

What could be better

Prep times. Like most meal kits, the stated cooking times are optimistic — budget extra for anything labelled under 30 minutes.

Verdict: the best all-round meal box in the UK right now. If you're only going to try one, try Gousto — the combination of menu size, app quality and value is hard to beat.

Important on gluten-free: these meals are made without gluten-containing ingredients, but none of these brands prepare them in a dedicated gluten-free facility — HelloFresh labels its own as “Not Suitable for Coeliacs”.
